Question: What is the process of writing?
I will tell you about the process of writing first.
First, the writer has to think about what he's going to write. If a captain of the ship does not know which direction he would go, then he can't be a good captain. And so do as in writing.
Then, the writer has to write a draft. This is an important step because this is the first time you are transfering your thougts to a writing.
Next, the writer has to edit his work(draft). This includes reorganizing the parts, changing vocabularies, correcting spellings, Why can't him just hand out your writing without editing it? Hmm... let him try it. And if he writes a good 200pg story without any mistakes or without any part to organize on the first time, then I'll give him one million won. What I'm trying to say is that no writer writes perfectly on the first time. But writings can be better if you edit it.
Finally, you publish/finish your writing. This is a time to show your work to the world.

Question: What characteristics describe “good” writing?
There are many kinds of writings and many kinds of people with different interest in the world. So some people will think some writings are good but others won't. Still, I believe that there are some identical characteristics among the good writings and will suggest some of those characteristics.
First, I think a good writing has to have a deep meaning which people can agree with or which makes people to think. If there's no meaning in a writing, people will feel emptiness after reading it.
Second, I think a good writing has to have a realistic frame (at least in the story/unchanging) so that people can imagine in the story without getting confused.
Third, I think a good writing must have a unity among its parts. This is bit similar to the second characteristic but it’s broader. This includes unity among its plots, frame and theme. If a writing has many parts which contradict each other and if it's all mixed, then the reader would get confused and will never think "this is a good writing."
Fourth, I think a good writing must give people enjoyment. This doesn't just include usual enjoyment we get from imagining in the book but also includes enjoyment we get by our intellectual or spiritual fullness. As an example, we can also get enjoyment by thinking about the problem (which comes out in writing) deeply. And when we finally interpret it in our own ways and satisfy with it, we get another kind of enjoyment (this sometimes happens even if we can't find the conclusion).
Finally, I think a good writing must be clear. This includes choosing a right vocabulary in a right situation, making no (maybe fatal) grammatical errors which makes the writing incomprehensible, analyzing them in a right order, and expressing sentences’ meanings clearly.
Excellent! I like your part about unity. I belive that is really important as well.
